This Sauvignon Blanc pushes the boundaries of the typical New Zealand flavor profile. By highlighting floral aromatics and tropical flavors such as guava and melon-like fruit, they tone down the grassiness and bring a creamy mid-palate all the way through to a fresh and bright crispness on the finish. Mt. Beautiful has set a new precedent for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. 89pts WS
This Chardonnay opens delicately with rich notes of vanilla bean and almond husk, which reminds me of a decadent crème brûlée. The creamy custard notes are balanced by a soft minerality and a hint of worn leather. Those creamy notes continue to your palate where they are joined with a light woodiness from the oak. Just like that first bite of brûlée, this wine will melt in your mouth for a long, creamy finish.
A deeply aromatic wine with notes of passionfruit, lemongrass and fresh herbs; with just a perfect hint of flintiness. A wonderfully lively palate with soft grapefruit style acidity. The mid palate is juicy with tropical and herbaceous notes mingling perfectly together. A zesty mouth-watering finish. 90pts WS
Our single vineyard wine is genuinely aromatic, with focused minerality, balanced by fruit ripeness, intensity and great breadth and texture. Add a delicacy and elegance born of the locality, and the result is a wine full of complexity, genuinely resulting from the vineyard location in Blind River rather than prescriptive winemaking techniques. Showing super freshness, juicy acidity and a tactile phenolic profile in its youth, the 2015 will, as usual, get even better as the wine integrates.
Delicate aromas of green fig and fresh cut grass. Crisp acidity and citrus flavors are accompanied by tropical notes and a long finish.
Pale straw with green hues. A lifted nose showing refreshing snow pea and herbal notes, melon and fresh guava. Light-bodied and refreshing with typical Marlborough flavors of passion fruit, gooseberry and grapefruit. A pleasing herbaceous thread leads to a long lingering finish.
Checking in as a blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Roussanne that spent four months in tank, on lees, the smoking good 2015 IGP Cotes Catalanes Cote d’Est comes from vineyards located right up against the Mediterranean Sea. This medium-bodied, juicy and deliciously fresh white is almost overflowing with notes of orange blossom, peach, salty sea breeze and honey on the nose. It’s a terrific value that should be bought by the case and enjoyed over the coming year. 90pts WA
The Annabella 2014 Napa Valley Chardonnay is a bright, light straw color in the glass. Youthful but sophisticated, the wine entices with aromas of honeydew melon, juicy tangerine, and a slight hint of butterscotch. In the mouth, the wine strikes an impossible balance between voluptuous and delicate – with a silky, weighty mouth feel playing counterpoint to fine-spun flavors of citrus blossom and a hint of cinnamon. The slight structure provided by oak frames the wine’s delicacy perfectly, providing length and depth to its elegance.
Morning Fog Chardonnay is a great expression of Livermore Valley Chardonnay, with diverse alluvial fans of soil consistently creating Chardonnay with beautiful and lingering minerality, which coupled with the natural acidity from the long and cool growing season, creates a beautifully balanced wine.
A custom cuvee created by importer Eric Solomon, the 2015 IGP Cotes Catalanes Novellum is a smokin’ value that’s made from 100% Chardonnay that spent three months in tank (on Viognier lees) followed by three months in barrel. Tasting like it cost three times the price, it offers lots of orchard fruits, white peach, honeysuckle and a hint of vanilla to go with a medium to full-bodied, crisp, yet still textured and mouth-filling style on the palate. You can’t go wrong at the price and this is a terrific wine to enjoy over the coming year or two. 90pts WA
